Well 1st of all, I'm a caucasian girl, 15 years of age. NO NEED to
remind me of how slim my chances are. Im going for it anyway! What's
the worst thing that could happen? They say no? Oh and also I'm set on
SM so i don't need people on my back about YG and such; its my
decision. Going on...
1. Can I or can I or can i not sing/ dance to a song by SM? People
have told me they either:
A) Think you're mocking them
B) Think you're a fan-girl/boy
C) Think you're truly interested in them
D) They judge you harshly and compare you to the artist
(Yes this is going to be long.)
If not, then what song do you think I should sing? I'm powerful with
high notes, but i also want to show some personality in my songs like
SNSD does. Also, I don't want to be a solo singer at all! The reason
why I'm interested in K-pop is because of the groups. I was thinking
of doing IU's "good day" and yes i can do it confidently!! I just feel
like i might slip up in the moment and look like a fool.
Next point:
2) Can i do my own dance routine along with a song? It gets kind of
confusing here..
A) IF I can do a SM song, i was planning on doing "If" by Taeyeon and
a dance to SHINee's "Lucifer"
B) If i cant, can i do a diff, song a diff dance? (Suggestions for
the dance one too?) OR
C) Another song/dance at the same time?!?! (SM or not)
Also.....should i really prepare 3 songs? Are they going to ask me to
sing more than one, or is it just in case the person before me uses
one?
Last part for auditions:
How does it go? Do you go in a room with 5 people perform in front
of all of them, or is it in a room with a video camera like ive seen
before?
Do I sing with a track I/they provide, or is it a capella?
I play piano (i wouldnt call myself Yiruma, but i havent played in a
couple years..) i also dabble in a bit of guitar/ clarinet. Do I bring
it up or just leave that out?
How does the beat test go? Are they really looking for an exceptional
dancer if you don't plan on being a dancer, or is it just to see if
you can keep a beat?
Also, they're looking for young/ fresh faced people right? That means
minimal makeup no nail polish and such.
Oh one more thing! should i wear heels? Will it impress them, or
should i just stick to a nice pair of gym shoes? If i do in fact wear
heels, should they be relatively short? Not kitten heels but not
stilettos? (I honestly thought this was gonna be short..... "/)
OH! back to the singing part real quick,, so i heard that for
callbacks, they want you to improve, do i start out with a relatively
good song, then train as hard as i can and do a more advanced song, or
improve on the song i sang before?
AGE: Im 15 right now, but i was planning on auditioning in the winter
or possibly the end of sophomore year so that i can focus on school.
People say to just wait to audition 'till SAT's are over, but by that
time ill be 17, and i feel like I'd be too old, since my training
could last who knows how long!! I feel like the perfect age for me to
debut would be 18-19. I don't want to be like Victoria who is like
22-23 who is singing with a bunch of 16 year old's...and plus i don't
wanna be doing this till im 30 ya know? When do you think is the best
time? I'm in the process of learning korean, so hopefully that will
lower my training years..
Alright onto trainee life!! (which i hope is on the way!)
What is traineee life like? Do you really get long hours of work and
only 2-3 hours of sleep? Im up for all the work...but 2 hours of
sleep?
How much money do they give you?
Is whoever you dorm with in your group?
I highly doubt my family will haul out to Korea with me....how often
would i be able to visit them/they visit me?
I think thats it....i really appreciate whoever is kind enough to
answer all my questions!!!
